Multipurpose Introduction Paragraph - Tupaia

Tupaia

Tupaia, a Polynesian who travelled through the Southern Hemisphere with Captain Cook, used the stars to navigate him and the crew through the seas. He was an artist, a tattooist, fluent in many Polynesian languages and English which he had to learn upon being taken onto Cook's ship. Tupaia has not been acknowledged for his crucial part in Cook's journey to Aotearoa, New Zealand. 250 years later, learning about Tupaia is important so history can live.
